GARDEN STOOP
HOUSE
Garden stoop house is a small addition and renovation of a 1940s house in Onehunga for two graphic designers and their two primary aged children. The compact house is designed around an eastern entry courtyard and steps ( stoop ) and large covered north facing deck.
It leverages an under‐utilised front yard and engages with the street creating an extended ‘stoop’ which already functions as a spot for spontaneous social interactions from the street. This modern day suburban stoop is designed with cedar batten screens, exposed steel and a honed concrete block.
