This renovation and addition project  it takes an often under-represented typology of NZ past homes (Art deco) and aims to create an addition which adds to the street elevation with a wrap-around 'peek' double height window and a rear form which is sympathetic with the existing building.

 

Our clients are a young family, and bought the  property for its location and size which allows the kids to play in a large back yard.

We replaced the upper deck with a new addition of living area, added a new kitchen, refreshed the existing bathrooms and reworked the bedrooms downstairs to connect more with the garden. It was important to bring in as much greenery into the upper living with the wrap around windows.

 

As interior architects we also designed the interiors and with nods to art deco references in the kitchen, lighting and selected materials.
